National asbestos awareness week

23 - 29 November 2020

Did you know 1 in 3 Australian homes contain asbestos? It was used in more than 3000 products prior to 1990 and still lurks in things like walls, eaves and flooring.

During National asbestos awareness week, WorkSafe is joining organisations across Australia to educate tradies about the prevalence of asbestos, and how to identify and manage it safely.

Even if you’ve been in the game a long time, you might be surprised to know what materials contain asbestos.

Register for our free ‘Asbestos in Victoria’ webinar today!

WorkSafe, in collaboration with the Latrobe Valley Asbestos Taskforce, invites you to attend our Asbestos in Victoria webinar. Hear about how the use of asbestos, even after its ban in 2003, still impacts Victorian lives today and the strategies in place to reduce exposure.

WorkSafe’s occupational hygiene specialists’ will be joined by:

  • Brian Healy, a mesothelioma sufferer
  • Professor Tim Driscoll (University of Sydney)
  • Dr Tom John (Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre)
  • Executive Director, Simone Stevenson (Victorian Asbestos Eradication Agency).
